an animal shelter has $2500 in its reserve fund. the shelter charges $40 per animal placement and would like to have a least $4000 in its reserve fund. if the shelter places 30 cats and 10 dogs, will that be enough to meet its goal?

so 2500+40 times number of animals is greater than or equal to 4000
2500+40 times number of animals>4000
so we have 30 cats+10 dogs
add
30+10=40
subsitue 40 for number of animals
2500+(40 times 40)>4000
40 times 40=1600
2500+1600>4000
2500+1600=4100
4100>4000
true
the answer is YES
