A dwarf planet isn't large enough to have a definite orbital path, nor orbit another planet. An asteroid orbits the sun, and most asteroids in our solar system are found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

A dwarf planet is something that is really small and you can't really see it and an asteroid is a rock orbiting the sun.
