Why would someone want to live as an ascetic

Because he or she might be in the verge of finding himself or herself. He or she is still trying to figure things out in his life or is hiding from something he or she doesn’t want to face. Possible he or she has some unresolved issues. However, he or she could also chosen it by volition. He or she just wanted to be that way and as long as he doesn’t hurt or disturb other people, then there is nothing wrong with living such life.

The reasons tend to be vary from one person to another. But for most of them, they realize that indulging themselves in worldly pleasure do not give them a sense of satisfaction as they thought it should be.
