Whatever we do to one side of the equation, we have to do to the other side, so we subtract 65 from both sides so that we can isolate the variable.

3x + 65 - 65 = 7x + 13 - 65 : 3x = 7x - 52

Then we subtract 7x from both sides: 3x - 7x = 7x - 7x - 52

-4x = -52. Then we divide both sides by -4 to separate the 4 and the x.

-4x/-4 = -52/-4 : x = 13.

Hope this helps you!

3x+65=7x+13
remember that you can do anything to an euation as long as you do it to both sidess (except divide by zero)
try to get the placeholder/unknown (x) on one side by itself (isolate)

3x+65=7x+13
move all the x on one side
I dislike negative so we subtract 3x from both sides to cancel the 3x on the left
65=4x+13
subtract 13 from oth sides to isolte x
52=4x
divide both sides by 4 to get 1x
13=x
x=13
