It is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The Ring of Fire is an area in the pacific where frequent numbers of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions happen. Shaped like a 40,000 km. horseshoe. It is composed of volcanic arcs, volcanic belts and oceanic trenches. There 452 volcanoes 75% of which are active. 90% of the world’s earthquakes and 81% of the world’s largest earthquakes take place in the Ring of Fire. It is also referred to as the circum-Pacific belt.
