4 ( x - 2 ) = x + 10

4 * x - 2 * 4 = x + 10

4 x - 8 = x + 10

4 x - x = 10 + 8

3 x = 18

x = 18 / 3

x = 6

hope this helps!.

4(x - 2) = x + 10

Distribute the 4, using the distributive property which states: a(b + c) = ab + ac

We get:

4(x) - 4(2) = x + 10

4x - 8 = x + 10

Add 8 on both sides

4x - 8 + 8 = x + 10 + 8

4x = x + 18

Subtract x on both sides

4x - x = x + 18 - x

4x - x = 18

3x = 18

Divide both sides by 3.

3x/3 = 18/3

x = 18/3

x = 6

Your final answer is x = 6.
