Is there more to the question, or just answer what C is?
Well, this is subtraction, so hold out five fingers in your hand. Now, put down 3 of them. How many fingers are left?
Answer: 2
C = 2

c = 5 - 3
Considering you can just simplify to get the answer, let's do that.
5 - 3 = 2, so c = 2.
You can check it by replacing 2 in place for the variable. The problem would be 2 = 5 - 3. Subtract 5 - 3 again to get 2, so 2 = 2 which is correct.

c = 2
