To solve is:

1 (1)/(4) - 1 (1)/(5)

making it into an improper fraction:

(1+4)/(4) - (1+5)/(5)

(5)/(4) - (6)/(5)

bringing to a common denominator (which is 20, since they have no factors in common)

(5*5)/(20) - (6*4)/(20)

(25)/(20) - (24)/(20)

the answer is then:

(1)/(20)
