URGENT! PLEASE HELP!

Which of the follow functions are linear? Explain how you know.

1.) y - 4 = -8(x - 1)

2.)y =^4 (Four is an exponent)

3.)y-x^2 = 4.5 (Two is an exponent)

4.)3x + 5y = 15

1.) and 4.) are linear equations.
3.) doesn't work because it has x^2 which makes it impossible for it to be linear(it will make it a parabola) and 2.) I an mot sure where x is and if 4 is an exponent where is the base. 1.) and 2.) work because if you put them in to slope form they Will make a line.
1.) y-4=-8(x-1)
y-4=-8x+8
y=-8x+12

2 ) 3x+5y=15
5y=-3x+15
y=(-3/5)x+3

these equations will make a line
