Ratio: girls to boys 16/12 ⇒ simplified to 4/3 or 4:3 or 4 girls to 3 boys

Boys = x
Girls = x + 4
Total number of students = 28

Boys + Girls = Total number of students
x + x + 4 = 28
2x = 28 - 4
2x = 24
2x/2 = 24/2
x = 12 no. of boys.

x + 4 = 12 + 4 = 16 number of girls

ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys
16/12 ⇒ simplified to 4/3 or 4:3 or 4 to 3
