C, the question asks for a fraction of shapes that 're either triangles or pentagons. Meaning all triangles and pentagons.there is 2 triangles and 5 pentagons. So in total there is 7 shapes. Overall there is 12 shapes. So the fraction will be 7/12. OR you could add the fractions 1/6 and 5/12. You would need to find a common denominator, which is 12. So multiply both parts if 1/6 by 2. It will make 2/12. And add 2/12 and 5/12. 2/12+5/12=7/12. The answer is C.
