A. Remember emotional voice--your parents always saying DON'T use that TONE with me (sensing the emotion in your voice!) :)

It could be either
tone
or
mood
, and I cannot tell with certainty which one is the correct answer. Both of them evoke some kind of feeling, but mood refers to the reader's feelings about the novel, whereas the tone refers to the author's feelings.
