Explain how the coup d'etat in which Napoleon took part differed from other transitions in the revolutionary French government.

Unlike the previous coup d'etats in France, Napoleon wasn't an organised of one. He was invited to be a military general. What he did then was turn the tables on the conspirators and used the revolution to bring him self up to the position of First Consul, which was something as powerful as an Emperor at that time.
