Absolute value indicates that we are focusing on the distance, not the direction. Which means that the sign will not be included.
l-9+4l
-9+4 = -5
l-5l Absolute value of -5 is 5.

The absolute value sign changes anything that's in it to become a positive number. So -9 + 4 is -5. The | <--absolute value signs--> | will make the -5 becomes positive. So |-5| =
5
