So as the second problem you will get the same answer by dividing both sides of the equation by 8.

These two equations have the same solution of x=87/8
in the first equation. you must establish a least common denominator. which will be 12. so the equation will transform into 8/12x+9/12=96/12. after isolating the variable and dividing by 8/12 you will be left with x=87/8
In the second equation you simply divide by 8 and get x=87/8
