Text genre is a kind of spoken or written communication that is based on specific defining principles. A text genre is determined by the traits (style) it has in common with other works in terms of its content, tone, narrative style, and sometimes length. Based on the communicator’s intention, a text genre may be expository, narrative, procedural, or descriptive.
