-3|x+7|= -12
⇒ |x+7|= -12/(-3)
⇒ |x+7|= 4
⇒ x+7= 4 or x+7= -4
⇒ x= 4-7 or x= -4 -7
⇒ x= -3 or x= -11
Final answer: x= -3 or x= -11

-3Ix + 7I = -12 (divide -3 from each side)
Ix + 7I = -12/3
Ix + 7I = -4
x + 7 = -4
or
-x - 7 = -4
x = -11
or
-x = 3
x = - 3
x = -3 or -11
