The doctor's cost for a set of scrubs is $47.60
Given:
cost = $34
mark-up = 40%
Mark up based on cost:
$34 * 40%/100% = $13.60 mark up
New price or doctor's cost:
$34 + 13.60 = $47.60
It can also be computed this way.
$34 * 140%/100% = $47.60
