The greatest obstacle that Eleanor Roosevelt had to overcome to put her agenda to work was simply the fact that she was a women in the US, since many women of this era--even the wife of a president--were not widely respected in terms of being ambitious. Another obstacle was the fact that she was trying to help African Americans in a very racist climate.
