In order to answer this question, it is important to remember and to know the formula for getting the acceleration of an object.

The formula for acceleration would be:
final velocity - initial velocity
----------------------------------- = acceleration (meter / second squared)
final time - initial time

substitute

36 km/hr - 0
---------------- = meter / second squared
20 seconds

convert kilometer and hour to meter and second respectively

(36 km / hr) * (1000m / 1 km) * (1 hr / 3600 s)
---------------------------------------------------------- = meter / second squared
20 seconds

and you get

10 m / s
----------- = meter / second squared
20 seconds

then solve which would give you the answer of

0.5 meter / second squared = the acceleration of the car
