Did the early modern period see distinctive changes in human-environment interaction or were only minor shifts involved?

Generally speaking, the early modern period did not see distinctive changes in human-environment interaction, since these major changes took place immediately following this period, during the Age of Discovery--when overseas travel was paramount.
