Is speed or velocity more helpful to a pilot?why?

I would say velocity is more helpful to a pilot.

Speed is just the distance traveled at a certain amount of time.  Velocity is the distance traveled in a certain amount of time AND direction. So, velocity would be more helpful to a pilot, as he/she is getting more information.
