By definition divest means ’ to deprive something’ – a property, title, authority or even dress or clothing. Among the choices the best answer would be letter D: to provide. To provide is to give something. To control is to establish authority over another which is a bit off when paired against divest. To devise is to plan or make something new out if the already existing thing in front. And when paired against divest, it just does not fit, somehow.
