Most mistakes people make when doing this kind of math is that they forget the X and move along.
So, let's solve for X --

38 + x = 32

° Step 1 - Simplify both sides of the equation.

x + 38 = 32

° Step 2 - Subtract 38 from both sides.

x + 38 - 38 = 32 - 38

We can now see that x = -6. Well, at least you were close! All you forgot was the negative sign!

x = -6

To answer this we will use d INVERSE OPERATION of addition which is subtraction! Then we will check our work. Lets do it:-

38 + x = 32
x = ?

To answer this we have to SUBTRACT 32 by 38 (You were probably doing 38 - 32). Lets do it:-

32 - 38 = x
32 - 38 = -6
x = -6

CHECK OUR WORK:-

38 + x = 32
x = -6
38 + -6 = 32
We were RIGHT!!

So, x = -6

Hope I helped ya!!! xD
