Poikilothermic is an creature that has a body temperature that varies greatly while homeothermic is an organism that maintains its internal body temperature. Often, poikilothermic organisms varies its internal as a consequence of a varying temperature of its environment. This leads to a common term used for poikilothermic as "cold-blooded" organisms. However, homeothermic organisms has a relatively constant internal body temperature regardless of the temperature of its environment. In this case, homeothermic organisms have a mechanism in maintaining its body temperature. This leads to a common term used for homeothermic as "warm-blooded" organisms.
