Given:

The mass of planet is twice the mass of earth


M_p=2M_E

The gravitational acceleration on the surface of planet is given by,


g^(\prime)=(GM_p)/(R^2)

Substitute the values,


\begin{gathered} g^(\prime)=\frac{(6.67*10^(-11)Nm^2kg^(-2))(2)(5.97*10^(24)\operatorname{kg})}{(6.38*10^6m)^2}(\frac{1kgm/s^2}{1\text{ N}}) \\ =19.6m/s^2 \end{gathered}

The formula to calculate the weight of object on the plane is,


W=mg^(\prime)

Plug in the values,


\begin{gathered} W=(10\text{ kg})(19.6m/s^2)(\frac{1\text{ N}}{1kgm/s^2}) \\ =196\text{ N} \end{gathered}

Thus, the weight of object at the surface of planet is


196\text{ N}

Since only weight depends on the value of acceleration due to gravity therefore, there will not be any change in the value of mass of object and it will remains same as


10\text{ kg}

2. The gravitational acceleration on the planet is already calculated in part 1 which has value


19.6m/s^2
