4 - 4y - y² = 0
-y² - 4y + 4 = 0
y = -(-4) ± √((-4)² - 4(4)(-1))
2(-1)
y = 4 ± √(16 + 16)
-2
y = 4 ± √(32)
-2
y = 4 ± 4√(2)
-2
y = 4 + 4√(2) or y = 4 - 4√(2)
-2 -2
y = -2 - 2√(2) or y = -2 + 2√(2)

The answer is C.
