x = 140%
100x = 800*140
100x = 112000
x = 112000/100
x = 1120

and you want to increase by
40%
Add together
100% + 40% = 140%
140% expressed as a decimal
140/100 = 1.4
Multiply 800 by the multiplier
800 x 1.4 =
1120
