This was the war that kicked off the American Revolution. It was fought on April 19, 1775. Tension was growing between residents of the colonies; especially in Massachusetts. On the night of April 18, many British troops marched from Boston to Concird to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere, along with his fellow riders, sounded the alarms and militiamen helped fire at the redcoats. Many more battles followed, and in 1783 the colonists formally won their independence.
