6 + 2x = 1/2(12+4x)

6 + 2x = 1/2 * 12 + 1/2 *4x

6 + 2x = 6 + 2x Distributive property

6 + 2x = 6 + 2x We can see that both sides are equal.
-6 -6

2x = 2x

Since we can insert any number and get an equal equation.
