the triangle

cos (38º) = adjacent side / hypotenuse

adjacent side = cos(38º) * hypotenuse

adjacent side = cos(38º) * 12- yard

adjacent side = 9.4561

Rounded to the nearest tenth

adjacent side = 9.5
