you would need to take the known information. you have $60 and a 5% discount. multiply 60 by 0.95 to figure out how much was payed :)

so discount means less so find 5%
remember that percent means parts out of 100 so
5%=5/100=1/20
find 1/20 of 60
'of' means mulitpy in math
1/20 ties 60=3
5%=3
discoutn is 3
subtract 3 from 60
60-3=57
she paid $57
