Write out the ratio. 12/x=4/6. From here you can see that to get from 12 to 4, you divide by three. To find x, multiply 3 to 6. Your answer is 18 inches.

Answer:

18 inches

Explanation:

We have that,

Length of the photo,
L_(s) = 6 inches and Width of the photo,
W_(s) = 4 inches.

Now, the photo is enlarged with the new width i.e.
W_(l) is 12 inches.

Let, the length of the enlarged photo i.e.
L_(l) be x inches.

Since, the ratio between length and width remains same, we have the relation,

(L_(s))/(W_(s))=(L_(l))/(W_(l))

i.e.
(6)/(4)=(x)/(12)

i.e.
(3)/(2)=(x)/(12)

i.e.
x=(3* 12)/(2)

i.e.
x=(36)/(2)

i.e.
x=18

Hence, the length of enlarged photo is 18 inches.
