3.5x-1=-1/2(-7x+2) I know how to solve it which is

3.5x−1=−−7x+22
3.5x−1=−1+7x2
3.5x−1=7x2−1
3.5x=7x2
7x=7x

But I'm not sure how to check it. Please explain how?

3.5x - 1 = 7/2x - 1 By virtue of the distributive property
7/2 = 3.5, so there is no solution. The statement is true for any value of x.

Essentially it boils down to -1 = -1, which is always true.
