Rachel and David share 40 biscuits between them in the ratio 2:3, How many biscuits do they each get?

The ratio 2 : 3 means that for every 5 biscuits, Rachel gets 2 and David 3.

As there are 8 lots fo 5 in 40, Rachel must get 8 x 2 (16 biscuits) and David 8 x 3 (24 biscuits).
