6 billion= 6*10^9.

We have an equation: ?/ (6*10^9)= 20/100

Cross multiply:
100*?= 20* 6*10^9
⇒ ?= 20* 6*10^9/100= 1.2*10^9

About 1.2*10^9 people live on less than $1 per day~
