One of the most important effects of the industrial revolution was the migration of large number of people from farms to cities, in search for new and better opportunities for living. Industrial revolution led to creation of huge factories, and creation of huge factories led to massive urbanisation and forming of big cities. Living in the big city and working in a factory promised better life standard. In 1800 only 3% of worlds population lived in the cities, compared to 50% today, at the beginning of the 21st century.
