What role did parliament play in the events that led to the boston tea party

Parliament passed a law that placed a tax on British tea--leading many colonists to believe that they were being unfairly treated (since they had no representation in Parliament). Some of them continued to dump large amounts of British tea into the Harbor, which was knowns as the Boston Tea Party.
