You can convert the fractions into numbers
Roger therefore has 2.5 cups of butter.
The recipe needs 0.75 cups of butter.
2.5 / 0.75 = 3.33...
As he is not waning to bake one third of a loaf you must round down to 3 loaves of bread.

To solve this division would be the best way to go. First, set the 2 and 1/2 cups as 5/2. Then go to the lowest common denominator of 4 making 5/2 into 10/4. 3/4 can go into 10/4 3 times meaning that Roger can make 3 loaves of bread.
