a(c+b)=d

To solve for c:

1. Use distributive property to remove parentheses:

ac+ab=d

2. Subtract ab in both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} ac+ab-ab=d-ab \\ ac=d-ab \end{gathered}

3. Divide both sides of the equation into a:

\begin{gathered} (a)/(a)c=(d)/(a)-(ab)/(a) \\ \\ c=(d)/(a)-b \end{gathered}
