MITOSIS-division which results in two daughter cells each having same number of chromosomes as those of parent cell.
MEIOSIS-division which results in four daughter cells each having half the number of chromosome as those of parent cell.

LA MITOSE :Involves somatic cells and provides birth identical to the parent cell during the asexual multiplication cells (it thus preserves genetic information) and MEIOSE results in the production of gametes or sexual reproductive cells.
