I have 6 dollars to buy something with at the grocery store. I want to buy cupcakes but I do not have enough money. They are worth 3 dollars and I want to buy 6 of them for my friends and I. How much money do I need to have to get 6 cupcakes?

6 x 3 = 18

18 - 6 = 12

12 dollars needed to buy all 6 cupcakes.
