You will need to multiply in the parentheses. so 2y2+2(9y2-8) you need to multiply 2(9y) and 2(2) and 2(-8).

2y^2+ 2(9y^2 -8)
= 2y^2+ 18y^2 -16 (distributive property)
= 20y^2 -16

The final answer is 20y^2 -16~
