If you walked 5 miles down a trail and then walked 2 1/4 miles back, how many miles away are you from your starting point?

5- 2 1/4=
2 3/4

I would be 2 3/4 miles away from my starting point.

Given :you walked 5 miles down a trail and then walked 2 1/4 miles back

To Find :how many miles away are you from your starting point?

Solution :

He traveled distance form starting point = 5 miles

He then walked back and traveled distance =
2 (1)/(4) =(9)/(4) =2.25

Distance between starting point and current position= 5 - 2.25 = 2.75 miles

Hence you are 2.75 miles away from your starting point
