A warmer climate meant at the time a less harsh climate: it did not mean heat waves, but less cold winters and shorter winters.

This meant that the plants could develop better and that more plants were available: the Indians could rely more on gathering food.
Also, it also meant more fish in the rivers and better fishing opportunities.

Because of this, they would hunt less big animals, which was difficult and dangerous.
