The violent revolts in France in 1830 signified the end of the ruling bourbon monarchy. Charles X was an unpopular king so his overthrow was welcomed by the people of France. He was a conservative king who believed in the divine rights of the monarchy. As a result of the violent revolution, Charles X abdicated on 1 August 1830 and fled to England with his family. With Charles' abdication, the Orlean's monarchy was elected to rule with Louis Phillipe the first and last of the Orlean's monarchy
