2x - 13 = 3x + 18
Ok, so we have to get the variable (x) on one side and the number on the other side.

So first lets add 13 to both sides.
2x - 13 = 3x + 18
+13 +13
-------------------------
2x = 3x + 31

Next lets subtract 3x from both sides.

2x = 3x + 31
-3x = -3x + 31
-----------------------
-x = 31

Lastly, we need to switch the negative and positive signs.

-x = 31
x = -31

So the answer is x = -31
