what items were commonly traded in North and West Africa between a.d 1000 and 1500? why did these items become so widely traded? Plz help i need this before tomorrow

Salt , it was considered like riches

Mediterranean economies were short of gold but could supply salt, taken by places like the African salt mine of Taghaza, whereas West African countries like Wangara had plenty of gold but needed salt.
