List the multiples of 12 and 16
Multiples of 12: 12, 24, 36,
48
, 60
Multiples of 16: 16, 32,
48
, 64, 80
So, the LCD of 12 and 16 is
48
.
Least Common Denominator is the same thing as Least Common Multiple.

The least common denominator of 5/12 and -9/16
The answer is 48.
Now, we have to change the numerators also to make this a equal fraction to the first ones we had.
5*4 = 20
12*4 = 48
20/48
-9*3 = -27
16*3 = 48
-27/48
