(S) For example, if you wanted to improve as a football player, your training program may consist of some steady state running drills to build endurance, some lower body resistance work to build power in your legs, and some sprint work to increase your explosive speed over short distances.

(P) adding more weight, more repetitions, more distance, faster speed or less rest.

(O) this may be putting more weight on a bar, or adding an extra kilometer onto your run.

(R) If you do not allow your body sufficient time to recover, it won't be able to adapt and grow stronger.
